little grasshopper

Spok. 166 boulevard Marechal Leclerc. Toulon (and other locations)

Creativity isn’t dead. Spok is a young, small chain of lunch spots, which originated in Marseille and is now creating a new good+fresh+stylish+fast option for the busy there and in Paris, Toulon and Aix.  I want to kiss them for coming up with ‘black sesame, Japanese rice, cherry tomato salsa and tuna tartar salad’, one of the twenty or so surprises that fill the display boxes.  Add a couple daily specials (almond pesto Monday), sweet service and – for once- deco I promise you haven’t seen in the other cantina next door.
Bonus: biodegradable containers eat there/to go options, cool soft drink (orange blossom lemonade?), respectable electro tunes in the background.
The passion and ideas are there, details are a bit green still (note: 5-meter long benches are trendy but you can’t actually sit down to eat if you’re wearing a skirt).
I’ll enjoy watching them grow up.
